final stretch

Ok so gigi went on thursday afternoon to get her staples out.. now she has about 1235363 steri strips ( ok a SLIGHT exaggeration, but you get the point.. there are alot of them) But she is doing excellent!! They took her wheel chair away yesterday or the day before... so she actually has to walk with her walker.. which is AMAZING.. she is really getting along well.. Im very impressed each time i go there to visit her.

We went there this morning and she wasnt there, so we dropped the paper off and headded of to walmart.. only to get a call from her saying she was very sad, because she had missed our visit.. and i told her not to fret we were planning on coming there after walmart. we just happened to bring flowers with us.. She has really gotten some pretty flowers lately!! we just brought her some yellow tulips.. figured it would brighten her day.. but i think what i need to do is to give madelyn a BUNCH of daisys so she can pass them out to all her "new" friends there in the nursing home.. they sure do like to see the kids... im glad that those two put a smile on someone's face.. most of the time its not mine.. hehehehe.. just kiddin...

We are going to my uncles again tonight to watch the nascar race and cheer for our favorite National Guard car.. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Madelyn and Jensen are convinced they are going to be driving the national guard car when they grow up... hehehe.. its pretty darn cute

Well i think no news is good news.. thinks keep on going well for grandma in the nursing home.. She has a recliner in her room now.. and the other day they had her playing crazy 8 or something standing up.. she stood for 13 minutes or so... she was excited...The kids seem to know their ways to gigi's room.. which i think a nursing home should be quiet and grandma says no, the kids being loud doesnt bug most of the people there.. SO until next time... (its race night and the kid and I are going out to mom and dad's to crash out there tonight!!!!)

Ok.. so not really too much new stuff to report.. gigi is starting to look like her ol self again.. i told her tonight that she was looking better and she just looked at me and was like well how bad did i look before!! good to know her humor is coming back.. She re-arranged her half of the room today which seems to work out a LOT better!! seems to have more room and all that good stuff.. so yeah.. her knee is still attached.. therapy is going well.. she says the nursing home over feeds them.. but its a nice balanced meal she says.. hehehe

day whatever it is

So we went to see Gigi a few times today.. and i will say that she is doing a lot better.. she says they eat too much food in the nursing home!! But i suppose its better than starving.. She said that she got herself on and off the pot for the first time since surgery.. Someone helped her get there.. but she got on and off herself.. BIG thing!!! I heard her roommate say about 3 words to her.. but i dont think she is all there.. just either watches tv or sleeps... but when i get that age.. thats what i want to do all day too!!!!,

WOW... 3 in one day

OK.. so we went to the nursing home to see gigi again at about 4ish.. when we were getting there Joanne, Eldon, Helen and Kim were just getting ready to leave, so im glad that she had some visitors!!! I bet it is pretty boring there all day long.. But she was doing well, we had to be somewhere at 5 so we didnt stay too long.. But yeah she seems to be doing better and better each day.. and she hopes she is getting better every day... will report more tomorrow

day 2 in the nursing home

So we went about 9:45 to see gigi this morning.. figured since i was up and the kids had a bath, i had done laundry, swept the kitchen floor and i was dressed and ready to go, we might just as well go. So when we got there gigi was in her wheelchair watching tv/dozing off.. Her roommate i dont think talks so that might be a little wierd for her if she is going to be there for awhile... when we got there we wheeled grandma down to the dining hall and we sat at a table. THEN we discovered that there was a cage in the corner (and NO not for the residents OR my kids!!!) but there were birds in there.. i thought that was just an amazing thing to have there!!! so we sat at a table by the birds and a nice worker brought the kids some crayons and they colored GIGI some beautiful artwork!!! grandma's spirits seem to be a little better today.. im sure everyday it will get better for her.. she had some rough ones in the past.. She said one of the residents bumped into her because she was "in his way" and got her right in the knee!! i told her she should have told him who was boss... We are going there again this afternoon.. So i will update you all again.. and any of you who are close to here and want to visit her.. she is in room 8A.... she would LOVE company.. i think she gets a little bored there.. so i brought her a book and some papers..

Day... whatever it is...

OK.. so pretend that this was posted yesterday again:

So today at about 10:30 i got a phone call from grandma.. she was upset.. she was getting ready to go to the nursing home. BUT that wasnt the part that upset her.. She was upset because they told her it was friday... and she didnt remember half of tuesday, wednesday OR thursday.. so she was scared that she had lost a couple days of her life while being on the "morphine pump". i told her that when dad was on the morphine he was CRAZY.. and what does she expect?? she just had major surgery and would she rather have the pain or the not remembering two days? so she settled down a little bit and asked if i knew where mom was.. i didnt so then i called dad and all that good stuff.. so she got to the nursing home no problem.. she is in room 8A and i havent gotten to talk to her roommate yet.. but she seems nice.. DEAF (from the level of the TV volume in the room) but nice.. we had to bring her TV from the kitchen here.. a little 13 incher..Many praises to the nursing home staff.. they seem like a great bunch.. i had to go and talk to some of them because the only pain medication she could take was tylenol because her vicotin hadnt come in yet.. so when i went to talk to them she said that the drug man (dont think i would like that title so much) came at 8:30 at night and it would be in that delivery.. So she was without pain meds from that morning until probaly 8 or so... when we left she was just getting ready to go down for supper.. she said that she knew a couple of the ladies that lived there.. so i think once she gets a little more comfortable with walking on her knee... she will hardly be in her room..

Day 3

OK so day 3 in the hospital... Today grandma got all her IV's out and they took the tube out of her leg that was draining the blood and re-giving her the blood.. She also switched to her oral pain meds.. Which when we went there at about 5:20 or so she was sitting in a chair and eating, and mom was there.. Mom says she isnt quite with the program quite yet.. Still wakes up and asks what Jensen is in to.. We kinda had to chuckle at that one! But we looked at her knee today and they took the ace bandage off of it and now she just has one of those compression socks on it for now and she had an ice pack.. She seemed to think that she was getting out of the hospital today and going to the nursing home.. but none of us know a single thing.. hehhe.. but whatever:) All is still going well.. i didnt ask if she had been walking, but i saw her walker there and she was in the chair.. so unless they alacazamed her there she had to walk a little..

SORRY!! (pretend this was posted last night!!)

Man.. its happening already.. day two and im already forgetting.. here is what i know.. She has been in some pain, but had her morphine drip increased a smidge today, she did get up and walk and she said it hurt SOOOO bad.. she had tears streaming down both sides of her face and she just walked around the bed!! When we were there last night (yes had the elevator fiasco again) she was drifting in and out of sleep.. said she was really tired but those people wouldnt let her sleep.. said she wanted to sleep but last night they kept coming in and checking on her!! but yeah.. didnt get much out of her because she was sleepy...

She finally had it!!!

Hey Everyone!!! Well the kids and i just got back from visiting Gigi in the hospital. Jensen does not like the elevators P.S...I received a call from mom at about 11:15 saying that they wheeled grandma down to the OR at about 11. They would have to prep her and all that good jazz.. Well i still hadn't heard anything from mom OR dad at 2:45. So I called dad and asked him what was going on. All he said to me was when we know something then you will. He ended up calling me back about 10 minutes later and saying that the nurse couldnt find them (dont know where she looked because they hadnt moved) but that grandma was already up in her room. So mom and dad went up there and grandma's nephew Denny was already there. Mom walked in the door and grandma said "well its about time you bring me my glasses, i cant see a thing" Of course.. She had some other visitors also, Neil, Deb, Jennifer and i would assume Jason Jensen came to visit. When i got off work the twinkies and i stopped at a flower shop and got her a little basket with a plant in it.. figure the plants might be better than flowers?? (besides maybe i will end up getting the plant.. HEHEHE) so the kids helped me pick it out and we headded for the hospital. Got there, figured out poor Jensen is NOT a fan of the elevator. Madelyn was very aprehensive of Gigi and her situation. Last night she was crying because she was worried about Gigi. So when we walked in we showed Madelyn what Gigi's new knee looked like (really couldnt see it, it was in some sort of machine to keep it moving and had an ace bandage on it with a HUGE ice pack. But the really cool thing they have is this little device that sucks the blood out of a drainage type thingy (yeah, and i know medical terminology also, nice huh)and filters it and give her the blood back in her arm. its quite cool, so she is getting her own blood back. She was a little out of it.. and as we were leaving she was getting a lecture from a nurse. The nurse had asked her what her pain level was and grandma said about a 4. So the nurse was telling her that she needed to be better at pushing her pain pump that she has. it was rather funny. She had just taken some benadryl so she was a little groggy..

Gigi called not to long ago to tell the kids goodnight and all that good stuff.. quite cute.. Madelyn is still a little concerned but she is doing better... More to come later:)

Celebrations

So we have LOTS to celebrate... The kids had their 3rd birthday!!! Jensen and Madelyn had Diego and Dora cakes that i made them.. Jensen is a true Hauck.. he just totally took a bite right out of the cake.. only needed a little shoving into the frosting:) They got everything they wanted and MORE!! They really like all their new toys..

Josh is home also!! We road tripped out to Rapid City to get him on January 16th. we got to meet up with him on the 17th at about 10:45 and it was a JOYOUS event!!! So it was a good event to even get just a teeny tiny little wheepy!!!

NOW.. for the big news... The kids are getting the hint of potty training.. EVEN Jensen!!! He can hold it like NO other!! as i type this i am hoping that i am not jinxying it.. But so far so good.. So i will update more when it is happening...

Christmas picture attemps.

So every year it starts and ends the same.. i get incredibly mad at my children because i can never get them to have the "perfect"christmas picture.. then add a dog into the mix.. hehe.. either one is looking cute and smiling and the other is frowning.. or one is smiling and the other is, well as you see gone.. So i have come to the conclusion that nothing is going to be perfect (besides my kids of course) and so there is no use wrecking the christmas spirit by thinking there is a perfect christmas picture.. and all of you that have the perfect picture... NEXT YEAR COME TAKE OURS!!! hahah

After halloween

This was our attempt at carving pumpkins the weekend after halloween. Madelyn's name was too hard to carve in the pumpkin but jensen's was easy.. so the stage was set.. we just had to wait for it to get dark.. with these two.. is easier said than done.. but they saw it in the end and loved it!!!

Go Diego Go!!

Ok.. So it never fails.. half ways decent picture of me and the kids are soo looking crazy.. So i guess whatever works.. This was taken at diego live last night..The kids LOVED the show... This show, if you know anyone that likes Diego, GO to it!! We had a great time with Erica, Matt and baby Liam (who is growing up TOOO Fast!!) Definatly will try to do something like this again..

So in other news.. I am switching jobs.. I think at Sanford im the offical "job hopper". I am going to be the receptionist/scheduler/precertification person at the new Sanford Imaging Center here in watertown. They will be doing MRI and CT scans.. im SUPER excited about it.. It doesnt plan on opening until November 5th.. So cross your fingers!!

BIG NEWS

OK.. So its common knowledge that we went to sesame street live and i told myself maybe one thing like that a year.. well Go Diego Do live is going to be in SF now too in october.. I honestly think my grandma is right when she says that i am the one that actually likes going to it.. To sesame street live i brought my friend christina.. THIS time im bringing Erica, Matt, and little Liam.. we are gonna have a BLAST>. ok so back to the story.. So i told the kids that i talked to Diego today on the phone and that he said he didnt want them in diapers anymore.. Didnt realize Jensen was going to take me so literally.. He ended up going potty in the potty tonight.. FIRST TIME>.. ok so he got a little all over, but i am SOO proud of the little turkey!! He will probably be totally potty trained before Miss THANG.. hahahha.

Oh and a cute little sparkly banner thingy... enjoy..

Computer GEEK??

OOK.. so i think i have a computer geek in training (sorry to all you present geeks) Jensen LOVES sitting and typing on the computer..he has mastered the backspace, enter key, space bar, and caps lock...he spells his words and is just proud as a peacock... ill have to take a picture of him on there.. just glowing.. he will punch a letter and then put his hands behind his back kinda just sitting back, admiring his work.. it is quite cute... otherwise everything else is going very well.. Starting on the upstairs here soon.. Siding is coming mid to end of october, glad its them installing it and not me.

Sesame Street Live...

Not the greatest picture but these are our goods from Sesame street LIVE that we went to today... Jensen and Madelyn both got matching elmo shirts and they have to share that elmo twirly lighty thing... because those three items.. 45 bucks!!! yeah.. highway robbery but the kids love them..

We saw Elmo, Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Grover, Oscar, Abby cadabra, Zoe, Count, Cookie monster.. and a couple other ones.. it was fun but a little long..

Well this is the only way i can get a picture with the kids.. They arent so good.. after a good days work, sitting outside and sweatting like no other.. But my kids look cute.. thats all that matters, heck who cares what the momma looks like.. So yeah.. we are all happy, healthy and well fed:)

OHHH and a FYI to anyone who doesnt know this yet.. we are officially getting new siding on our house... We are going to have a cypress colored house...(sage greenish) so i will post pictures of the tear the siding off the house party and the putting on of the siding.. more to come later....

Newman's new haircut

MMMk.. so little newman got to go to the beauty parlor for dogs... the lady did a really good job and newman seemed to really like the place.. he came back a new dog!@ these pictures arent the greatest but you can kinda get the hint by looking at his eyes.. hahaha... Newman is really adjusting to our family very well.. He is very protective of the kids and I.. He will growl at about anyone that steps into the yard or even by us.. He would never bite anyone but he will growl like no other!!! The kids just LOVE him... This particular picture is newman laying under the "spelling" table.. Jensen has his letters there and newman likes to hang out there.. Newman likes to just hide and do his own thing.. He still has a few accidents but that is expected since he is only 6 months old, not 9 like we first orignally thought...
